Sept. 3, 2021 | Today's news and insights for transport leaders Note from the editor S.L. Fuller and I have just returned from the Home Delivery World conference in Philadelphia. It was an eventful conference, filled with panel discussions, expo hall swag and severe weather alerts sounding in unison on the show floor.
One of the big messages I took away from the event was that final mile is no longer optional. It's not an added service as it has been in the past. Now, last-mile delivery is an imperative if you want to be competitive.
In today's newsletter, we're taking a look back at some of the ways fleets have ventured into the final-mile segment, and the risks and rewards of doing so. Do you agree that final mile is a necessity? Is there more risk or more reward to the segment? Tell me what you think.
Have a great weekend. We won't have a newsletter Monday due to Labor Day and will be back in your inbox Tuesday morning.
