Join us for our online youth rally to hear from award-winning youth advocates, WHO on what's coming up for this year's World No Tobacco Day and tobacco control partners including: STOP, the tobacco industry watchdog, The Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids and more. 14-15 May"SPECS 2030" WHO is launching a new initiative, "SPECS 2030" to assist countries in meeting the 2030 global eye care target of a 40% increase in the proportion of people with access to appropriate spectacles. The launch will be held during a two-day meeting (14-15 May) in Geneva with over 100 participants, including Member States representatives, UN agencies, academia, and non-governmental organizations. Related links: Thursday, 16 May WHO EPI-WIN Webinar Health Systems for Health Security: An Integrated Solution for Robust Emergency Management 13:00–14:00 CEST As the global community grappled with the pandemic's multifaceted challenges, it became evident that the concept of seamlessly integrating health systems with health security remains, to a considerable extent, was uncharted. WHO published a Health Systems for Health Security framework, which serves as a guide to countries, donors and other stakeholders, to bring together efforts to strengthen resources and capacities required for implementation of the International Health Regulations (2005), components in health systems and those in other sectors for effective management of health emergencies, while maintaining the continuity of essential health services. The Health Systems for Health Security framework was implemented in Sri Lanka in September 2023. Participants will be able to submit questions during the webinar by using Zoom's "Q&A" feature. You may also submit questions in advance by sending them to epi-win@who.int 14-16 MayNational Oxygen Scale Up Framework MeetingMember States and partners will come together at the World Health Organization’s National Oxygen Scale Up Framework Meeting: Road to Oxygen Access in Dakar, Senegal to explore and reach consensus on the necessary components for national oxygen scale-up plans. Participants will share best practices, highlight examples from current national scale-up efforts and identify existing resources that can maximize success.
