Click here  Tuesday, 3 June 2025 MEDIA ADVISORY Fourth meeting of the International Health Regulations (IHR) Emergency Committee on the mpox upsurge The fourth meeting of the Emergency Committee on the mpox upsurge, convened by WHO’s Director-General under the International Health Regulations (IHR), will be held on 5 June 2025. Following the meeting, the Emergency Committee will advise WHO’s Director-General whether the mpox upsurge still constitutes a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC). The Emergency Committee will also review the temporary recommendations issued to WHO and its Member States. The decision of the Director-General following the advice of the Emergency Committee will be shared after the meeting. The committee’s statement, once issued, will also be shared with the media. This IHR Emergency Committee held its first meeting on 14 August 2024. On the same day, the Director-General determined the event to constitute a PHEIC, and on 19 August 2024, he issued temporary recommendations. The Director-General's revised temporary recommendations were issued on 27 November 2024 and 27 February 2025, following the second and third meetings of the Committee.
