Recent data from a randomized controlled trial on bubonic plague offer valuable insights into plague treatment strategies and may be used to support global control efforts. More information. ********** WHA78 debriefing: Global Action Plan on Climate Change and HealthAt the Seventy-eighth World Health Assembly in May 2025, Member States adopted the first-ever Global action plan on climate change and health 2025-2028, marking an important step forward in global health and climate policy. Building on commitments made at previous Conference of the Parties (COPs) and the outcomes of the Executive Board meeting in February 2025, this Plan supports WHO’s work to promote health leadership in the global climate agenda and coordinate country-level action and implementation. During this public webinar from 14:00 - 16:00 CEST, the WHO Secretariat will debrief on the key elements of the Global Action Plan 2025–2028 and the next steps in its implementation, as well as highlight opportunities for Member States, partners, and other stakeholders to contribute to and support action on various levels. Thursday, 24 JulyPrevention and control of snakebite envenoming - a series of 3 webinarsSnakebite envenoming (SBE) is a significant public health issue in the WHO South-East Asia Region, affecting millions annually and causing tens of thousands of deaths. The region is a biodiversity hotspot for venomous snakes, and the intersection of human activities with snake habitats increases the risk of snakebites. The Regional Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Snakebite Envenoming (2022–2030) aims to reduce snakebite-related deaths and disabilities by 50% by 2030 through comprehensive strategies involving community engagement, improved access to treatment and enhanced surveillance.
