Click here Friday, 20 March 2026 | Issue 345 Medical evacuation of patients from Gaza, 26 February 2026 © WHO 23-28 March 2026 Sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group (IGWG) on the WHO Pandemic Agreement Hybrid, Geneva, Switzerland The sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group (IGWG) on the WHO Pandemic Agreement will be conducted in hybrid format on 23–28 March 2026, from 09:00–13:30, 14:00–16:30 and 18:00–20:30, with the closing session on 28 March from 20:30-23:00. In May 2025, the World Health Assembly adopted the WHO Pandemic Agreement under Article 19 of the Constitution of the World Health Organization to strengthen pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. Through resolution WHA78.1, the Health Assembly established an open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group (IGWG) to undertake several tasks, including, as a priority, drafting and negotiating an annex to the WHO Pandemic Agreement on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) system. This PABS System is a multilateral system for safe, transparent and accountable access and benefit-sharing for PABS materials and sequence information. Per the resolution WHA78.1, the outcome of the work of the IGWG on the PABS annex will be submitted to the Seventy-ninth World Health Assembly in 2026 for its consideration. Thursday, 26 March Global One Health Intelligence in action 13.00 to 14.30 CET, webinar This webinar by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), will mark the official launch of the modernized Global Early Warning System (GLEWS+) platform and its new public website. GLEWS+ is a flagship One Health intelligence mechanism jointly established by FAO, WHO and WOAH to strengthen collaboration across sectors and improve the early detection of health threats. By bringing together the complementary expertise of the three Organizations, GLEWS+ supports the identification of signals, the joint assessment of potential risks, and the timely communication of information to guide action. During the upcoming event, participants will be introduced to the modernized GLEWS+ platform and the new public website and will learn how One Health intelligence contributes to early warning, joint risk assessment and coordinated responses to emerging health threats. The event will also bring together experts to reflect on One Health intelligence and how to advance the broader global health security agenda.
