Note from the editor

Land is a paradox in business. Like water, it is everywhere. But not all land is alike. Often what businesses are looking for is a diamond in the rough: Land near vibrant urban areas; land that can be used as a base for operations.

But because of proximity to urban areas, the land needed comes at a price or two. One of the prices is money, but another is time: Time lost to locating, zoning, planning and convincing municipal officials that LTL service centers are a vital part of the U.S. supply chain. You would think this is an easy pitch in 2021, but Old Dominion still sees challenges. We talked to Old Dominion about their new centers and the issues they face in obtaining more. Read about it here.
