| | | | Editor's Note | | Friday, January 07, 2022 | | | | | | Dear MedPage Reader, | | I'm writing to tell you of an exciting change: As of January 1st of this year, Jeremy S. Faust, MD is the Editor in Chief at MedPage. Jeremy replaces Marty Makary, MD, who will remain on the editorial board. | | For those of you who might not be knowledgeable about Jeremy, he is an emergency medicine physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital and an instructor at Harvard Medical School. His writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Atlantic, Scientific American, and Slate. Jeremy also writes the column 'Inside Medicine' on Bulletin.com. Early in the pandemic, Faust also launched a popular site for physicians called Brief19.com, a daily review of news and developments related to COVID-19. | | Faust has made appearances on CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, C-SPAN, NPR, BBC, and others; his academic work has appeared widely including in the Journal of the American Medical Association, JAMA Internal Medicine, JAMA Network Open, the BMJ, the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, Clinical Infectious Diseases, and the Annals of Emergency Medicine, where he serves as an associate editor for News and Perspectives. He is medical Editor in Chief of ACEP Now, the monthly magazine of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and is the co-host of the award-winning medical education podcast FOAMcast. | | We are absolutely thrilled to have Jeremy as our new Editor in Chief. In addition to his impressive medical credentials, Faust has unique ideas for how MedPage can use its talented stable of reporters to continue to create positive change in the healthcare space. Faust is also part of a strong and trustworthy network of physicians that has worked throughout the pandemic to get data-driven information out to healthcare workers and the public. | | Faust has said of our new partnership "Medical and science journalism have become essential services, both to the general public and to professionals in the industry. The journalists at MedPage have demonstrated a commitment to getting it right and I'm honored by the opportunity to help guide that coverage, informed by frontline experience and the assessment of both reliable and emerging data. In addition to breaking news and essential investigative reporting, MedPage Today and I will work together to amplify thoughtful expert voices from within the medical and scientific communities." | | Faust and MedPage plan to announce additions to the editorial board in early 2022 to ensure that the board continues to represent a diversity of perspectives. | | As always, thank you for your readership, your submissions, your comments, and for the work you do every day. | | Best wishes for a healthy and happy 2022 from all of us at MedPage. | | | | Rachel Warren | Senior Vice President, Editorial | | | | | | | | | | © 2022 MedPage Today, LLC.
