Click here  Friday, 14 March 2025 | Issue 295  © WHO / Miguel Jeronimo  Tuesday, 18 March Virtual press conference on the outcomes of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) meeting The Stategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) held their regular biannual meeting from 10 to 13 March, to discuss recommendations on the use of a range of vaccines including pneumococcal, varicella and herpes zoster, and polio, and country prioritization efforts on new vaccine introductions, among other topics. Major recommendations will be announced and discussed during a virtual press conference at 15:00 CET on 18 March. A media advisory will be sent in due course.  Thursday, 20 March World Oral Health Day Oral health has long been neglected in global health. Dental caries, gum disease, tooth loss, and oral cancers affect nearly half of the world’s population. People face challenges and inequalities in access to oral health care, particularly in low-income communities and other vulnerable groups. WHO provides guidance and support to ensure that all people, wherever they live and whatever their income, have the necessary knowledge and tools and can access services to care for their teeth and mouths. More information. *************** Four Cities to be Awarded for Public Health Achievements by the Partnership for Healthy Cities Local leadership is helping drive global health progress in preventing noncommunicable diseases and injuries. At the Partnership for Healthy Cities 2025 Summit in Paris on 20 March, four cities will be recognized for policies and programmes that are tackling these major health threats. With noncommunicable diseases and injuries responsible for over 80% of deaths worldwide, the 70+ cities in the Partnership are setting an example for others to follow.
