Note from the editor
Following 27 years at the helm, Jeff Bezos will step down as CEO of Amazon on July 5, leaving Amazon Web Services CEO Andy Jassy in the driver's seat.
At Amazon, the lines of succession became clear when Bezos announced Jassy as the head of the world's largest cloud, to lead the world's largest online retailer in February. The executive pipeline is just as important at other companies — leaders want to ensure their projects and ideas are implemented once they leave.
In an upcoming series, CIO Dive will explore how companies build and nurture a pipeline of tech leaders, and particularly how CIOs help prepare their successors. As you have moved between roles, how has your company addressed leadership succession? Let me know your thoughts: rtorres@industrydive.com.
